The Kwikset 914 Deadbolt requires four AA batteries.
1. To replace the batteries in a Kwikset 914 Deadbolt:
Verify the turnpiece is in the vertical position.
2. Remove the lock cover.
3. Remove the battery pack.
4. Ensure to place fresh AA Alkaline batteries into the battery pack with proper polarity for optimal performance. Rechargeable batteries should not be used.
5. Replace the battery pack in the lock panel.
6. Reinstall the lock cover.
